Big w Kids Shoes Recall - Potentially Dangerous Defect


A recall urgently issued for eight kinds of popular light-up shoes that are sold at Big W.



Product Safety Australia has recalled the Caprice Australia's light up thongs due to concerns that the two batteries could pose a safety risk to children.



There are a variety of designs for thongs. Some of them include Frozen, Spiderman and Star Wars. OMG and Minecraft.

PSA said that the tiny battery compartment in the thongs might be exposed over time, making access to the two small buttons easier for children.



 If children are exposed to the button batteries and ingest them, they could suffer serious internal burn injuries that can lead to serious illness or even death according to the report.



 Button batteries can also be an choking risk to children.'



The thongs have been available for purchase online and in store at Big W since September 7, 2020, but haven't been sold since May 11 2022

The thongs are available online and in-store at Big W from September 7, 2020. However, they've not been sold since May 11, 2022.



Customers are advised to immediately stop using the shoes and return them to any Big W Australia store for full reimbursement.
